So as with all adventures preparation is key, and ensure you have all the right equipment to get the job done. This is where Mount Fuji is quiet interesting, with temperatures ranging from Spanish sun temperatures to below freezing at the top this means that one has to pack rather a lot into your suitcase, but more importantly in your rucksack as well. I have laid the equipment out in the picture below and obviously as yet, I do not know if I am missing anything lets hope not.
The Basics…
Effectively there is one key thing to climbing Footwear and socks, following on from that the clothing gets interesting, I know we will start the climb in shorts and T-Shirt and we will then slowly start to wrap up as we progress. A last minute brave wave saw me pop into TK Maxx to purchase some trousers that turn into shorts vi a little zip! How cool am I! So if figured these would be ideal, It is also important to have the correct undergarments on so the 100% polyester clothing that is usually used for skiing is ideal, keeps you cool when its hot, and warm when its cold. Under no circumstance should you use anything 100% cotton when looking to use it as an insulator! Next most important part is the hoodie, and the waterproofs, both trousers and coat. I have also packed my ski gloves and hat, to keep me warm as we circumnavigate the top of the Volcano. In terms of walking gear the only additional accessories I have packed are a walking stick and headlamp. So hopefully that is all we will need!! Oh and an Iphone because it is always useful to know where you are and how much further you need to go.
